667 days: Moral Failing on a global scale
It has been 667 days since October 7th 2023. That is One year and ten months. In this time Israel has committed a genocide on the Palestinian people, with growing and growing barbarity and horror with each passing day.
For the nearly two years since the start of the conflict, we have all been told that it is not as bad as we are being told, despite the fact that we can see the videos and pictures coming out of Gaza for ourselves. Despite the reports of well respected NGOs and Doctors and reporters on the ground. The Likud party has attempted to gaslight the world into ignoring the atrocities Israel is committing daily.
Those of us who have working eyes and a brain have seen through this bullshit. We know the truth and have screamed from the rooftops to get the world to see this. We have been painted as terrorist sympathizers and willing idiots for Hamas and their “propaganda”. We have been told that we are Anti-Semitic for daring to call out the Netanyahu government on the war crimes they are committing. Those of us who are Jewish and calling for an end to the barbarity are called self hating Jews and carrying water for the terrorists. None of which is true.
They have weaponized the government here, where an alarming many of our politicians are propagandists for the state of Israel, cracking down on legal and constitutionally protected protests on college campuses and beyond. But now, nearly 2 years into the horror, people are starting to wake up to what we have been saying all along. This is a genocide. It was from the start. It has not suddenly just become one. So when I see these politicians who have forsook their leadership positions for the entirety of the event, suddenly acting as if they have been on the right side all along, it makes me sick. I am all for people coming around to the right conclusion, but it should not have taken anyone THIS long to come to the conclusion.
It seems extremely performative and self serving. The world will remember this.
